ERP is not included in the base fare. If your trip has ERP or other surcharges, you will pay more than the originally displayed fare.
The fare quoted for a taxi is an estimate and does not include location surcharge, ERP and booking fee. Hence, your fare may be higher than the estimated. It's a good practice to ask for the printed receipt before alighting from the vehicle. Taxi trips are metered fare, so you will be able to see the breakdown of the surcharges incurred for your trip.
Grab being a third party ride-hailing application, do not have access to the meter system of the taxi companies for the exact fare breakdown.
For some promotions, the original fare will show as crossed out and will be visible above the newly displayed fare.
Always refer to your e-receipt for the fare breakdown. At the bottom right corner of the e-receipt, you will find the Receipt Summary.
Your original fare will be displayed as Ride Fare, with Promotion displaying your discount amount, while ERP and other surcharges are found in Tolls & Others.
To check surcharges that may apply at the time of booking, tap on service type and on the top right of your screen.
For example, JustGrab and GrabCar surcharges include:
- Toll charges (ERP / Sentosa) incurred from pick-up point to destination
- Additional waiting time ($3 for every 5 minutes)
- Additional stops / additional distance ($5 per stop / per 5 km up to a maximum of 3 stops)
- Booster seat use ($2 per seat on each ride, limited to one child only)
For GrabHitch, ERP fees are not included in the fare and they will typically be borne by your driver unless you have agreed to share the cost.
Let us know, after checking your service type, booking surcharges and your receipt, if you still believe you were incorrectly charged a surcharge.
